Biography

Whether you are newly sober or striving for the next level on the road of recovery, she can help you to identify and challenge negative self-talk and transform defeating feelings of anxiety and depression. By understanding the underlying issues of addiction, one is able to learn new life skills and build a life of emotional well-being and balance. Recovery from addictive behaviors and thinking offers the opportunity to reclaim your life and expand your potential. 

The disease of addiction severely damages individual lives and all the associated relationships. By concurrently addressing individual issues and exploring family of origin, family roles, ACOA, codependency and enabling behaviors, these relationships can be healed as well.

Her focus is on evidence-based integrative psycho-therapeutic techniques to include CBT, DBT, 12 Steps and psycho-educational skills to support change. There is so much to be hopeful for in building a life in recovery.

Gael Murphy has worked in the field of psychotherapy with a primary focus on chemical dependency recovery for individuals, couples, and families for over 30 years. She obtained a BA in psychology from UC Berkeley and an MA in counseling from SF State University. As her career progressed, the need for extensive treatment for alcoholism, addiction, and dual diagnoses became critical to her client population.
